Peace

Welcome!

Welcome to the 'New Year's Song (for Joshua)' page

at http://villagefool.tripod.com

I recorded this whole tune sitting on my bed, New Year's eve 2001-02, as my planned gig got cancelled at the last minute.

I played guitar, electric piano, synth & real bass, sampled drums and sang both parts.

I hope this song is an inspiration to you to forget about the injustices of 2001 and embrace all people in 2002 and beyond.

Peace

Shalom

Namasté

and Good Health.

"New Year's Song
  (for Joshua)"

I know a little about love

I know a little about hate

And the heart of the matter is there's

Too much of the latter

But the former's coming, I just can't wait.

Take a look at the world

It's more than many different kinds of foods

It's past time for some healin

So get that Hallmark feelin'

Just forget all those old attitudes

Our children know how to live

The differences, they don't choose to see.

Marie, John, Chan, Ophelia

Mohammed, Ben, Amelia

You know they're all just the same as me.

It's a new year, 2002 year.

I can't wait

Why don't you call up your neighbour

The one that lives 12,000 miles away.

Say "Good Morning" to your brother

Though you have a different mother

It doesn't really matter anyway.

We've wasted too many days

Thinking 'bout the wrongs of the past

Have joy, give love, partake and dance.

You may not get another chance.

Live life to the fullest, to the last

We've got to change our course of violence

And give it all that we can

People talk about it all the time,

but now's the time to take the time,

To stand up, support your fellow man.

It's a new year, 2002 year,

I can't wait.
